CLIMATIC CYCLE
To understand this harvest, it's essential to remember the previous one, 2022, as one of the driest in the history of RODA, with 396 mm of precipitation, and as the warmest, with a temperature integral unprecedented to date.
Soil reserves were scarce, and winter rains were absent. Budbreak was weak, with almost no previous rain.
Significant frost in Cubillas, with buds about to sprout. There was evidence of frost on the vines, and the first warm spells didn't arrive until April.
There was virtually no rain until June, when around 100 mm of rain were collected, accompanied by hailstorms. Hailstorms affected all our vineyards, with damage ranging from 10% to 40%. Fortunately, since the hail was early, it didn't affect grape quality, although it did affect quantity.
After June, there was no rain throughout the summer, with successive heat waves. Temperatures reached over 42 degrees Celsius in the fourth wave at the end of August.
It rained in September, delaying the grape harvest. Mediterranean rains entered the peninsula.
Precipitation 475 mm.
Thermal integral 1849, slightly lower than in 2022.

Nose:
Exquisitely delicate and complex, with fresh fruits and a little bouquet of blossoms. It smells of the coolness of morning dew on wild flowers. Its time in oak is almost imperceptible, leaving a subtle memory that is complemented by the tertiary notes of ageing. Fresh stone fruits - apricots, cherries and vineyard peaches - transport you to the vineyard landscape. There is a lingering sensation of the shade of a bitter almond tree in blossom and clumps o fresh fennel, with mineral notes from the limestone soils.
Palate:
Voluminous on the palate, with a magnificent sensation of unctuousness and freshness at the same time. Citrus flashes of grapefruit combine with velvety, voluptuous notes of cherry, vineyard peach and flowers, which culminate in a extremely long-lasting freshness. Its time in large cask and in bottle has polished away any edges, leaving the finesse, roundness and lightness of glass shaped by sea waves. The floral background weaves between the fruits to create a delicious landscape, together with the memory of bitter almond and grapefruit. Its powerful retronasal persistence allows you to experience every detail of the aromas again.
