CIRSION
Wine from selected bunches where the grapes have matured exceptionally.
In 1995 we discovered that some vines produced grapes whose flavor was very different to the one of the vines around them. They produced a sensation of fullness, of volume, with notes that were more alike to a wine than to a grape. Two years later, we made our first CIRSION, which we did not commercialize, and we tested that with a short aging, the wine reached a level of incredible silkiness and a fruit complexity out of the ordinary. Each vintage we walk through the vineyards looking for this curious natural peculiarity, and that’s how, one in a thousand, the CIRSION grapes are picked.

CLIMATIC CYCLE

Precipitation during winter and early spring was good, with low temperatures, which meant that sprouting arrived somewhat late. In May we were 10 days late. June was a very warm month, reaching 400 degrees on the 18th. In one month, we went from having a phenological delay of 10 days to having an advance of the same time. The drought was enormous, with very long heat waves during the month of July, reaching 41 degrees. Summer was very hot and dry, turning into summer in the last week of July. Harvest was early and healthy, beginning on September 6th.

TASTING

Colour:

Very intense coat. With a dark cherry-picot background and cherry rim.

Nose:

Very intense, you can smell the wine even from afar from the glass.

Of great complexity, with many notes of black fruits, cherry-picots, small fruits like blackberries, cassis, blueberries, and also some flashes of fresh red fruits.

The wood is well integrated and there is a wonderful balance in the olfactory sensations.

Notes of balsamic aromatic plants and earth. With memories of wildflowers and violets.

Palate:

Enormous volume that does not weigh. Smooth retronasal sensations that keep flowing.

Black fruits, with red sparks. Impeccable texture. The tannin is very fine and delicate.

There is a lot of freshness despite being a dry and warm vintage.

The wine is very long, endless, leaving a aftertaste full of fruit and fresh fullness.

Without a doubt it is a great CIRSION, perhaps not of so much power but of incredible balance between power and elegance.
