CLIMATIC CYCLE
The year of the short cycle. 36 days with temperatures below O ºC, during the winter. 478,6 mm. of precipitations in the vine-growing year. A frost on the 16th of April, reaching -4,5ºC that devastated the region.
September was rainy and a very good month of October. A limited production. Exorbitant prices of the grape. (The grapes of the frozen vines were better according to the quality, those vines which were not frozen had many grapes.)
Grape variety:
100% Tempranillo.
Vineyards:
Bush vines over 30 years old, yields limited to 1,5 kgs. per vine.
Grape harvest:
From the 9th to the 27th of October.
Fermentation:
In French oak vats, with controlled temperature.
Ageing:
In French oak barrels, 60% new and 40% second use. 16 months in barrels and 20 months in bottles.
Stabilization:
By natural methods, clarification using only egg whites, without filtration.
Alcohol:
14% Vol.
Colour:
Medium layer with a red background and a very subtle slight evolution.
Nose:
It has good intensity, with a fresh and fine nose with a profile of black and red fruit. It is very delicate and has the freshness of the Atlantic vintages.
Within the Atlantic profile it is more direct than RODA I 97 in which the undergrowth entertains you.
Palate:
Intense, full, with a lot of fruit, now more than black, the freshness comes out from all sides. It is very lively and has all the character of the Atlantic: fresh, long, very direct, without great volume and very elegant.
Very good wine and with a lot of life ahead.
Tasting held in Haro on December 14th, 2017
