CLIMATIC CYCLE
A huge drought in summer. During 14 days, the temperatures have risen above 30ºC. 482,5 mm. of precipitations in the vine-growing year. An excellent response of the vineyards with depth roots, specially the old vineyards with no much production. A very rainy winter, a usual spring and a very dry summer.
Grape varieties:
92% Tempranillo, 5% Garnacha, 3% Graciano.
Vineyards:
Bush vines over 30 years old, yields limited to 1,5 kgs. per vine.
Grape harvest:
From the 3rd to the 30th of October.
Fermentation:
In French oak vats, with controlled temperature.
Ageing:
In 50% brand new and 50% second use, French oak barrels. 16 months in barrels and 20 months in bottles.
Stabilization:
Completely natural methods, clarification using only egg whites.
Alcohol:
14% Vol.
Colour:
High medium layer with good intensity, red background and good evolution.
Nose:
Good intensity, along the lines of ripe and fresh red fruit at the same time. It has complexity and the whole nose is very nice. There is also a certain amount of liquor but the fresh fruit stands out, reminiscent of the cherry and the cherry stone.
It is within the Mediterranean profile, but it has more liveliness than RODA II 98.
Palate:
With good volume, it leaves a feeling of fullness in the mouth. The tannin is of very good quality and the fruit is present throughout the length of the mouth. The cherry is perfectly marked and is living very well.
Tasting held in Haro on December 14th, 2017
